Many thanks to all the visitors to our club today for supporting this Senior’s competition. There were lots of compliments about our clubhouse, and the course in general.
This was a very enjoyable day, with sunshine briefly making an appearance through the clouds. There was an excellent turnout and the participants were fuelled by tasty bacon rolls!
£235 was raised from the raffle, and we are very grateful to the generous members of the Seniors Section who donated prizes for the raffle.
Many thanks to the City of Newcastle Golf Club staff (Office, Pro-shop and Catering) and also to the green-keeping staff who had the course in top condition today.
Finally, I would like to thank Roger Dancer for assisting the Seniors Committee in helping the day run so smoothly.

Seniors League Team News (Including Hole in One!)
Gents, we have commenced this year’s matches; they seem to have come round very quickly. We have played Blyth away which was a creditable 6-6 draw, followed by a narrow 7-5 defeat against a strong Stocksfield team at the City. We have ran out Victors against Arcot Hall at Arcot 8-4 and yesterday we took on Northumberland at the City and won the match 9-3 with the one lost game going to the last putt on the 18th hole.
During yesterday’s match we had a fantastic hole in one by Keith Anderson at the 2nd hole (see photo)and very nearly a second hole in one at 14 when his tee shot hit the pin and finished 6" from the hole.
There have been a few new caps in the team who have performed very well, supported by some of the more established members of the team.
As always the dedication and time spent to play in these matches is much appreciated, the games are very sociable, but also very serious and competitive.
The next game will be Backworth away on the 12th June, let's keep this winning streak going.

A field of 56 members teed off this morning, on a course affected in parts by the heavy rain of the previous day. As buggies were not allowed on the course today a number of members were unfortunately unable to play. The weather for the competition was excellent – no rain, little wind and the temperature was pleasantly warm.

The Winner – Paul Messner 40 points.
£15 credit on club card.
Runner-up – Jim Trigg, with 37 points (24 on back nine)
£10 credit on club card

Congratulations to the above and thanks to all who supported the event. A great turnout, and good feedback on the introduction of the £5 entry to supplementary competitions. The winners who were not present at prize giving will be contacted individually about receiving their prizes, and we hope to get a photo of Paul Messner with the trophy.
Also, a big thank you to those members who brought a prize in for the Seniors Open Raffle to be held on 8th June. This was greatly appreciated by your committee.
Thanks to Section Committee for their efforts in running this event,
Dave Fletcher, Chairman.
