Lady Captain’s News
My Captain’s Day on the 26th June started with an early mist which soon cleared to give a bright start for the first players going out on the course.
My husband Norman helped me set out the prizes in the clubhouse and then lent a hand putting up the tent on the 7th where Brian Parker, Dick Knight and Nigel Carter served refreshments to the ladies as they passed through. Photos on the first tee and Nigel took more on the 7th and with Jordan setting up nearest the pin on the 14th and 18th and the putting challenge. What a great team I had.
I had a lovely lunch with my Committee and my two guests, past Captains’ Viv Brown and Mary Burke at 1.30pm while the Bridge ladies played on the balcony and the winner was Mary Baker and second Joan Mitchell.
My non-playing guests arrived at 4.00pm for afternoon tea. Gavin was having a busy day in the kitchen as was young Ollie who waited on table.
The presentation of prizes was about 9pm after the evening ladies had finished their games. Val Black provided the flowers for the tables and our backroom girls, Chrissie, Margaret and Pam Oliver did a great job sorting out the cards and finding the winners. The Captain’s Salver was won by Vandana Chaudhrey with 44 points. Winners from other categories received prizes too, photographed by Kath Muir. We celebrated and applauded the winners.
I was overwhelmed and delighted with the many presents and cards I received particularly the lovely bag from the ladies section and the personal unique framed picture from the Team. Donations to “Maggies” raised £400 on the day.
I had a wonderful day and my thanks go to everyone for making it so memorable.
