It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Past Captain Brian Hodgson on 21st March 2024 at the age of 74.

As you would expect of a man of his stature, he did not go quietly but finally succumbed at home where his beloved wife Katie gave him every care that she could.

 

Brian was Captain of the City in 2004-05 and was an avid follower of the Newcastle & District League team and indeed always studied the club results following weekend and midweek competitions.

 

In his younger days he played rugby, tennis and squash to a high representative level and in 1984 was golf club champion at Dunstanburgh.

 

Brian had an opinion on most subjects and was ever a forthright speaker- a round of golf with Brian was generally a tutorial on history, geography or indeed psychology and his knowledge of literature and music was of the highest order.

His funeral will be on Thursday the 11th April 2024, 11:15am at the West Rd. Crematorium, followed by the Golf Club.
