Seniors Welcome

Welcome to The City of Newcastle Golf Club Senior Section

The Seniors Section is open to all men who are City of Newcastle Golf Club members and are over 60 years old. In 2023 the annual subscription is £10 for the year, and at the start of the year membership was 102 paying members.

There are four main competitions run by the Seniors Section, which are free to enter and there are prizes, trophies and food in the clubhouse after the round of golf:

May – Joe Farley Trophy (stableford)

June – Bill Elder (stableford)

September – Seniors Championship (gross and nett stroke-play)

November – Seniors Winter Competition (Texas Scramble)

The Seniors Section also arranges an Away-day to a local golf club which is a fun day out and is always popular with members. It also assists in the running of the Seniors Open held each year by the City of Newcastle Golf Club, where the raffle proves a good source of income for the Section funds.

In addition the Seniors Section runs a team in the Northumberland Seniors Golf League (12 matches a year).

Thursdays was traditionally a day when section members would play informal matches with each other. In 2020 the City Club introduced a Seniors Stableford Competition which is played each Thursday, and for a nominal entry fee of £1 any City Club member over 60 are encouraged to play (not exclusive to Seniors Section members). This has proved to be a good way of ensuring that players keep their World Handicaps up to date.

If you are over 60 and are interested in joining the Seniors Section, please contact one of the following members of the Committee:
