Most will know tonight's news already, but it was great to be at Whitley Bay tonight to witness Phil Ridden and Andrew Minnikin get through to the final of the County Championship.
Phil got off to a fast start, 5 up through 7, against Seton Wakenshaw,. Always in the driving seat eventually won 4 & 2.
Andrew played 17 year old Angus Buchanan in a close match: Andrew lost the first 2 holes, then bounced back with wins at the 3rd and 4th to go to all square.
After that Andrew was never down in the match, yet never more than 1 up, until the 17th where he holed a birdie putt for a 2 & 1 win.
Angus looks a really good player: hits it a mile and is a great prospect: keep an eye on him.
Well done to both Phil and Andrew: final is tomorrow over 36 holes.
Looking forward to a great final: too close to call.
