Matchplay events (Mixed knockout; Scratch knockout, John Duncan Trophy)

General Club Noticeboard : Matchplay events (Mixed knockout; Scratch knockout, John Duncan Trophy)

The draws for the men’s Calcutta and Collings matchplay competitions were published on the Club V1 and HowDidIDo apps yesterday.

Entry for three further matchplay events is now open:

Mixed knockout: The format is traditionally Greensomes (alternate shot). However, for safe golf purposes we have decided, for this year only, that the format will be fourball betterball. Handicap allowances are calculated as 90% of the difference between each individual’s handicap and that of the lowest player.

Men’s scratch knockout: Singles matchplay. No handicap.

John Duncan Trophy: Singles matchplay.  Open to men 55 and over. The higher handicap player receives an allowance of the full difference between the handicaps.

Any members wishing to enter any of the events can enter from the Knockouts option on either the “Club V1 Members Hub” or “HowDidIDo” apps, or by logging onto their HowDidIDo account on their computer at https://www.howdidido.com. The closing date for entries is Saturday 20th June at 11pm, and the draw will be made and published on the apps the following day. We will aim to play the final on Sunday 27 September.

The entrance fee for each competition is £2 per competitor. Please ensure you have sufficient funds loaded on your club card. Additional funds can be loaded via the Club V1 Members Hub app (selecting the “Card” option from the menu).

Competitors must enter the result of each match via the Club V1 or HowDidIdo app on their phone; or at https://www.howdidido.com on their computer; or exceptionally, if you cannot access the apps, by emailing info@cityofnewcastlegoflub.com or notifying the Professional of the result).

Due to the late start in the season, the time period for each round will be limited to 3 weeks. To avoid fixture build up, all players who have not completed their match by the deadline for each round will be disqualified.

In the event of a tie, all matches will be decided on sudden death, played immediately following the round.

If you have any questions please email info@cityofnewcastlegolfclub.com, and a member of the competitions team will contact you back.
