Congratulations to Mike Emens and Bill Gibson on becoming Honorary Members after completing 50 years of unbroken membership at the City. 

President Bob Stoddart presented certificates to both at an informal lunch celebration on Monday. 

Congratulations to John Franklin who scored a hole in one on the 2nd hole! This achievement was witnessed by two Past Presidents on the 30th March 2024.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Liz Watson on 12th March 2024, at the age of 76.

Liz passed away peacefully at St.Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth and will be lovingly remembered by her husband Alan, her sons and grand children.

Liz was a much loved and respected member of the City joining in 1989. Liz took a keen interest in many areas of the ladies section serving as Lady Captain in 2002 and Lady President in 2014. When Lady Captain she had the honour of winning Division 2 taking our first team into Division 1. In the same year she also captained the winning TR Percy Team. Not only did Liz take up positions on Ladies Committee but she was keen to see others take up the sport. She took an active role with the GIG ladies helping and encouraging them in the game. Liz and Doreen Cairns ran Domino Day for many years giving us all a special day every June to look forward to. We will all have our own fond memory of this lovely lady and she will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be on Thursday 4th April at 10.15am at the West Road Crematorium and then afterwards at the Golf Club.
