COURSE ACCESS UPDATE
CHANGES TO COMPETITION PLAY
Effective from Monday 3rd October 2016
Changes in existing competition practice are necessary to ensure the City Of Newcastle Golf Club is compliant with current equality legislation.
A sub committee was formed, which consulted extensively with England Golf to ensure the solution was compliant with current legislation. A proposal of changes was presented to the committee. The committee accepted the changes unanimously.
The changes are based upon equity, fairness, and creating the ‘best fit’ with the least disruption. The changes also offer consideration to those men who are not playing in the competition but who play ‘casual golf’.
In summary: On ALL competition days, protected times are amended to be for competition play only. Members playing in competitions can play at any time during the competition day, however during the protected times only those playing in the competition are eligible to play.
On Ladies Competition Days, reserved tee times will be used for competition play only. One free tee time, where available, will be allocated per protected grouping for late entries. There will be no buffering of the competition times. All unused times will be released to the club when the draw is entered on Wazygoose.
On Men’s Competition Days the tee is reserved up to 9:45 for competition play only. In order to make the situation equitable, protected times are for male competition players only.
The following changes supersede those in the current Club Diary, p91, and will apply to all club competitions played from Monday 3rd October 2016.
All members aged 18 years and over have equal access to the course except on competition days when the following rules apply.
MEN’S COMPETITION DAYS
Throughout the year Men’s competition days are either on a Saturday or a Sunday with seven midweek competitions during the medal season.
On Saturdays or Sundays, the tee is reserved for men playing in the competition until 09.45.
On Wednesday Medal Competition days the tee times are reserved for men playing in the competition between the hours of 16.00 to 18.00.
Any reserved tee times which are not booked for competition will be available to casual golfers on the day in the Pro shop.
LADIES’ COMPETITION DAYS
Friday is Ladies’ competition day. These are drawn competitions.
Teeing off times are reserved between the hours of 09.27 to 10.45, 13.04 to 13.45, and 16.13 to 16.27.
In addition, four balls are not permitted between 08.52 and 09.20, 12.22 and 12.57, and 15.59 to 16.06.
From November to February the tee off times are 09.27 to 11.00.
Any tee times which are not required will be released when the draw is posted onto Wazygoose.
On special competition days, Men’s and Ladies’ Captain’s Day, Men’s and Ladies’ President’s Day etc, the tee will be reserved to accommodate all competitors.
MARKING CARDS FOR COMPETITIONS
Any full member with a CONGU handicap can mark a card for someone playing in any competition.
In the event that a Men’s competition has to be re-arranged for a date which coincides with that of an existing Ladies’ Alternate Day then the tee is reserved until 09.45 for competition play by either men or women.
The Winter Series will be open to both men and women golfers.
Please note: there are no proposals to change any of the rules applying to Junior members.
Details of the proposal, as presented to the Committee on Monday 12th September, will be available when the minutes of the meeting are published in the members section of the club website.
