Thank you to all who responded to the invitation to contribute opinions about the playability of the 13th hole and for your patience whilst the matter was given due consideration and the detail of the hole developed.
I cannot be absolutely accurate about the numbers who responded, but sifting through all of the e mails it was around 70.
There is a view in the Out of Bounds camp that the Burn/ boundary of our land has determined out of bounds on holes 11,12,14 and 18 and that the 13th should be no different.
That was the view of 17% of those who responded and the vast majority, 78.5% of those who responded felt the best format would be to deem the area to the left of the fairway a lateral water hazard.
There were equally strong views in both camps on Committee but the decision taken was to respect the view of the majority of those who took the time to contribute to the debate and therefore it will be deemed a Lateral Water Hazard for the rest of the playing season, after which time we will review the situation.
We took the precaution of printing a limited number of score cards and will do the same again in case we need to reconsider at the end of the season.

We currently have out of bounds beyond the 15th green, we will extend that along as far as the most forward tee position on 13 with white posts.
In addition a ball struck from the 15th tee and entering the hazard is unlikely to be observed entering the hazard. Therefore a ball in this situation would be deemed lost, however if it is found in the hazard then this can be played.
Play will be ‘prohibited’ from the other side of the burn and a drop the only option.
